Action 2.2 Define the Team Roles and Elect People to Fill Them

Purpose

To confirm and/or establish formal roles for the team members such as team leader, facilitator, minute taker and timekeeper.  Become aware of the informal roles that team members will take on.

DESIRED OUTCOME

  • Once this step is complete, team members will have agreed to take on formal roles in the team.  Team members will be aware of the different informal roles that will be present in the team.

How to do it

Use the Formal Team Role guidelines in Section 3 to understand the different formal roles in the team. 

 

Gain consensus from all team members on the position of team sponsor, team leader and facilitator. 

 

Introduce the Task and Maintenance Functions and Informal Team Roles and discuss the different informal roles that people play in teams.
